Hubspace Features

Hubspace is a constantly developing internet marketing platform. We're constantly making it better, and ongoing updates are included in a customer's monthly subscription. Below are some of the features and modules currently available within Hubspace.
We also integrate seamlessly with selected  web services to provide a truly comprehensive offering.

In Situ Editing

All Hubspace content can be very simply and easily edited from the page using just a web browser - all you need to do is log in then enter edit mode. You're provided with a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor that works in a similar way to Microsoft Word, allowing you to modify the text, change it's style, make it bold or italic and create lists etc.

Easily Distribute to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn et. al.

Set up your Hubspace so that your news item, blog item, event or other piece of dynamic content will automatically tweet and update across your multiple social networking accounts including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, FlickR and many more.

Unlimited Pages, Any Way You Want

Create an unlimited number of pages and easily organise them in to your required navigation structure - that is, which pages can be linked to from which menus, how "deep" in the site each page is and so forth. Directly edit and re-order top, side and base menu labels in situ on the page. Re-organise the structure at any time.

Search Engine Optimisation

Hubspace includes a wealth of features to help you keep in the good books of the search engines. These include:

  • Even though Hubspace is a "dynamic" system the page names in the address bar are clear and readable - no "?pageId=46" and such like.
  • The system automatically redirects incoming links for any moved or renamed pages, thereby maintaining search engine rankings, user bookmarks and links from other sites.

Independent Media Library

Hubspace allows you to upload multiple files at once (images, documents etc.) in to a media library that sits independently of your site content. You can categorise your images and files, then use them wherever you wish in your site.

Image Management

Whenever an image is uploaded, Hubspace automatically creates a range of optimised image sizes on the server, from a tiny thumbnail to a full page image. When you then bring an image in to the content editor, you can step through these sizes very easily. This has two major advantages. Firstly, any size you choose is genuinely that size (it's not a larger image resized in the browser), meaning that it loads as quickly as possible and is of optimum quality. Secondly, whilst there are plenty of sizes to choose from, there are few enough for you to be able to easily match up multiple images on the same page - either by width, height or proportion. You're also given a range of "squared off" images allowing for FlickR-style thumbnails and the like.

Listing Module (news, articles etc.)

This module allows you to manage data in the form of a list, with each list item automatically having it's own detail page (if required).

Individual items can be placed in multiple listings (for example a general news listing and a "top news" list on your home page), and can be reordered in the list. You can choose whether the default order is last-entered-last for a standard listing (e.g. "gift ideas") or last-entered-first (e.g. "news").

Lists can also be filtered by multiple categories and/or archived by month.

Advanced Blogging Engine

When we integrate the above listings module with the Echo commenting service, we have an advanced blogging engine including trackbacks, pingbacks and real-time comments. There's no need to implement and learn a separate system to manage your blog.

Gallery Modules

We have two types of gallery module.

  1. Lightbox. This is the familiar pop-up like module in which clicking on one of a list of thumbnails results in a larger image appearing, with the ability to step forward and back through the images.
  2. Detail page. In this case, each thumbnail links through to an automatically created detail page that you can fill with whatever content you wish. This second type of module is relevant if, for example, you want to link from a thumbnail to a series of larger images or to the description of a project.

In both cases with us, the detail image or page can be linked to independently of the gallery. This is a fairly unique feature, particularly with the lightbox version.

Product Sales (both physical and digital)

Hubspace isn't suitable for a specialist and comprehensive online store with hundreds of products.

However, if you wish to sell a few products from a website that also takes advantage of Hubspace's other great features, then we have a just the job - a specialist product sales module integrated with the e-junkie shopping cart and inventory management service. This works well for a small number of physical products (up to about thirty) and is particularly suited to the sale of digital products such as eBooks and audio/video training materials.

Site Search

This module provides the standard search box and corresponding search results listing. Your site is re-indexed daily.

Events Module

Our specialist events module makes it easy to manage a list of events. Events automatically appear in date order, grouped by month, and automatically drop off the list when the event has passed - and they will automatically move in to a list of past events if you wish. Each event item also has it's own detail page that can be linked to for futher information, if required.

When combined with the Amiando ticket shop, you can take event bookings and/or sell tickets.

When combined with the Echo next-generation commenting engine, you can allow event participants to interact with each other online before and after the event.

Form Builder

This isn't actually our form-builder, it's Wufoo's, but because the provision of this service is central to every Hubspace site, we've elected to mention it here as well as providing more detailed information about Wufoo on the partner integration page.

Multiple Sites, One Account

Hubspace allows you to have multiple sites coming off of the same account. So If you have multiple business projects that each could do with their own site but that share common information and/or media, then this is just the ticket. For example, let's say you have four sites for four business projects with the same business owner and you want to add a photograph to his or her profile. Just add it once to any of the sites and the other three will update automatically.
